News — WASHINGTON (February 19, 2025)- Germany’s national election is being held this Sunday, February 23, 2025. Germans will take to the polls to decide who will be their next Chancellor, with Friedrich Merz of the CDU leading, Alice Weidel of the far right AfD in 2nd place and the SPD’s Olaf Scholz and the Greens’ Robert Habeck in the running as well. As the most significant power in Europe, these elections are very important, particularly at a time when there is a new administration in the White House.
