News — Chicago, IL (June 11, 2019): Effective immediately, the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN) is pleased to announce that Gayle Irvin, MPH CAE, has accepted the role of ARN Executive Director.

Gayle has served healthcare associations for more than 17 years, bringing valuable hands-on experience, association knowledge, and leadership to her new role with ARN. She states, “It has always been important to me to focus on relationship building and to learn about adjusting member engagement and expectations as associations experience changes within their industry or specialty. I look forward to working with ARN to develop and expand their goals as we enter a new era in health care.”

For the past four years, Gayle was with the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), where she served as vice president of Affiliate Affairs and Member Services. In her role, Gayle led strategic initiatives to increase horizontal integration throughout all membership departments, implemented value-based member recruitment and retention initiatives, and increased member engagement. Prior to the AOA, Gayle was the director of operations, sales, and client services for EnvisionRx Options; associate executive director for the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons; and vice president of administrative services for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. During 11 years with the Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development of the American Hospital Association, Gayle held a variety of roles from communications specialist to associate executive director.

The ARN Board of Directors is enthusiastic to be working with Gayle. President Michele Cournan says, “I am looking forward to working with Gayle. I have complete confidence that Gayle will put her years of nonprofit experience in marketing, team building, and leadership to good use, to foster growth and the vision of ARN through the foreseeable future.”

ARN President-Elect Barbara J. Lutz added, “We are so happy to welcome Gayle to ARN. Her expertise in relationship building and commitment to ensuring engagement of our members will help ARN to successfully navigate and thrive in an evolving rehabilitation landscape.”

Gayle succeeds Stacy Sochacki, who served as ARN’s Interim Executive Director, since early January 2019.
