News — Approximately 1,200 researchers and clinicians are expected to attend the Americas Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ACTRIMS) annual Forum Feb. 27-29, 2020, in West Palm Beach, Florida.
ACTRIMS Forum 2020 will provide an excellent opportunity to interact with scientists and clinicians at the cutting edge of MS research. Themed “Networks in multiple sclerosis,” the meeting will focus on the interconnections between cells and systems. The goal of this Forum is to provide an update on the current state of knowledge regarding cellular, molecular and social networks in MS. This CME-accredited meeting stands apart from many traditional medical meetings by offering a single track of scientific and clinical presentations in an interactive environment. Numerous networking opportunities include two poster sessions, which will allow approximately 300 presenters to share investigative results.
The Forum also features the , which will be delivered by Dr. Peter Calabresi of Johns Hopkins University. His specific laboratory research interest lies in understanding the mechanisms of T lymphocyte differentiation into effector memory T cells and how these T cells interface with glial cells in the brain to modulate remyelination. Dr. Calabresi has published over 300 research papers including numerous articles on imaging and the immunopathogenesis of MS.
The 2020 Forum will again include the presentation of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s annual Barancik Prize. The prize recognizes an exceptional scientist or a team of scientists whose work in MS research has demonstrated outstanding innovation and originality. The annual prize, made possible by the Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation, is $100,000 to be used at the discretion of the recipient.
ACTRIMS is committed to fostering the careers of Young Investigators with an interest in MS. The first session of the Forum is composed of platform presentations by Young Investigators who will be selected based on a review of the submitted abstracts. In addition, junior faculty, fellows and students who submit abstracts are eligible for an education grant to support their attendance. Neurologists in training will learn about career paths in clinical and investigative neuroimmunology through the pre-conference event, "Neurology Resident Summit in Multiple Sclerosis.”
ACTRIMS Forum 2020 will be held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center and the Hilton Hotel in West Palm Beach, Florida, U.S. To register and learn more about the Forum, visit the event website, , and follow the event at #ACTRIMS on Twitter.
