Despite the shrinking media landscape, Â鶹´«Ã½ reporter registrations continue to grow
The dramatic decline in newsroom positions has been going on since the messy transition of print media to digital platforms. Unfortunately, it’s not getting any better. The current media landscape is in turmoil. Â鶹´«Ã½rooms nationwide are hemorrhaging staff, newspapers are folding at an alarming rate, and digital platforms are struggling to find sustainable business models.
America’s local news landscape is also vanishing at an alarming rate. Since 2005, one-third of all newspapers and two-thirds of newspaper journalists have disappeared. This decline is accelerating, with closures rising from two per week in 2022 to a shocking 2.5 per week in 2023.
Yet, with the crumbling media landscape in mind, Â鶹´«Ã½ defies the odds. Since 2019, reporters’ registration to Â鶹´«Ã½ has increased over 400%! Since 2019, reporter activity on Â鶹´«Ã½ has increased by 65%! Clearly, reporters and editors are turning to Â鶹´«Ã½ as a trusted source for developing story ideas.
