News — April is autism awareness month and just this week, the CDC issued a new showing an increase in autism among school-aged children. 

The report shows a rise in autism over the past two decades according to medical records from 2022 for children ages 4 to 8 across 14 states. 

Among 8-year-old’s, the CDC found that one in 31 children were diagnosed with autism.

, professor of anthropology, international affairs and human sciences, is an expert on autism, mental illness and psychological anthropology in children. He completed the first-ever epidemiological study of autism spectrum disorder in South Korea and is the author of many publications, including “Unstrange Minds: Remapping the World of Autism.”
