News — The , Chulalongkorn University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Preeda Akarachantachote, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Arts; Mr. Thanapol Chaowanich, Lecturer of the Department of Film and Still Photography; Mr. Treethep Thaikuruphan, Executive of , along with other industry professionals, were invited by the , the People’s Republic of China, to the academic film event, Decoding Thai Film in Chinese Market. The delegation took part in seminars promoting the creative economy in film, drama, series, and documentaries while also engaging with leading Chinese film companies to explore business opportunities and expand cooperation from February 25 – March 1, 2025.
The event, co-hosted by the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Guangzhou and CU Nitade Extension Co., Ltd., featured a screening of the Thai film, ‘(Not) close friends’ and a panel discussion on “Decoding Popular Thai Films in China.” To conclude, a networking reception was held at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Guangzhou, providing participants with an opportunity to connect and exchange ideas.
The event was presided over by Mr. Kajtiti Wiwatwanont, Consul General, and welcomed more than 100 Chinese representatives from Guangdong’s state film agencies. Several leading Chinese film production companies and universities specializing in film studies also joined the discussions, proposing collaborative projects that will pave the way for future academic and industry partnerships between Thailand and China.
