The U.S. team includes many of the nation鈥檚 top female players under age 23. Several of its players are expected to make the U.S. Olympic team.
鈥淚t鈥檚 an honor to serve as their team physician,鈥 Dr. Jones said. 鈥淚 love the sport and working with high-level athletes.鈥滵r. Jones also served as team physician for the U.S. under-20 men鈥檚 soccer team during their 2012 tournament in Spain, and was among the team physicians for the U.S. men鈥檚 soccer team during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Dr. Jones, who grew up in Brazil, said soccer is his favorite sport. He played midfielder on his high school team, club soccer at the University of Iowa and now plays indoor soccer.
Dr. Jones is a family physician who specializes in sports injuries and sports medicine. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.
