鈥淲e conducted one of the first studies of a group of racially and ethnically diverse patients coming into a comprehensive cancer center for symptoms such as pain, fatigue, poor physical function, depression and anxiety, and practical needs like transportation and child care,鈥 says Dr. Frank Penedo, Sylvester鈥檚 associate director for Population Sciences and director of Cancer Survivorship and Supportive Care. 鈥淢eeting these needs can impact the patient鈥檚 quality of life and possibly cancer outcomes.鈥
