News — Irvine, CA - (January 28, 2019) - The school ranked No. 24 among all US institutions — rising from No. 32 last year. Globally, the school ranked No. 48.

The new ranking reinforces what has been a steady and consistent rise for the Merage School, which has prioritized preparing graduates to lead in today’s digitally driven business world by updating all core classes and adding a raft of specialized courses.

“Students know that when they choose the Merage School they’re changing their trajectory, gaining the skills and experience they need, whether they’re competing for influential, high-paying leadership jobs or launching their own businesses,” says Dean Eric Spangenberg. “We have always been committed to serving our students, and that effort is being recognized in these rankings.”

The Merage School ranked No. 1 in the world for the highest percentage of full-time female faculty, with 48 percent of faculty female.

“The school has made a great effort in creating an inclusive, supportive and nourishing environment for female and minority faculty,” says Joanna Ho, associated dean of the Masters programs. “The overall climate of diversity and inclusion helps us attract and recruit female faculty and also sustain an engaging working environment.”

Merage School alumni surveyed in the ranking had the seventh highest percentage salary increase in the US from pre-MBA salaries. MBA candidates are screened to make sure they have they have business experience that will make them successful on the job market and the curriculum is continually updated to ensure graduates are competitive in the job marketplace.

“The strength of the student experience allows us to attract leading MBA candidates, who gain outstanding skills that make them stand out in the market, especially in front of leading tech companies,” says Cynthia Rude, executive director of the Merage Career Center. “We also take a holistic approach to career development with sessions on strength assessments, career pathing and other professional best practices that allows graduates to improve their pre-MBA earning potential.”

Top-notch faculty research also contributed to the Merage School’s rise in the rankings. The school’s research rank is No. 37 in the world and No. 29 in the US.

“We have leading experts in an array of fields who are publishing ground-breaking work across many topics — from corporate restructuring to e-cigarette marketing to technology’s effect on finance,” Spangenberg says. “Not only does this research help businesses make better decisions, but students gain from being in the classroom with leading experts.”
