(JHSON) Professor , PhD, ANP, FAAN, has been invited to serve on the POLITICO Live panel December 3, Washington DC. She will join panelists across the health care spectrum to discuss policies, strategies, and innovations that can improve primary care treatment for patients with chronic conditions.

Szanton is director of JHSON’s NIH , established last year to advance the science of supporting patients with multiple chronic conditions and develop sustainable health care solutions through innovative research design. She is also director of the school’s and endowed professor for health equity and social justice.

Her internationally known combines facets of nursing, occupational therapy, and handy work to address environmental and functional limitations of older adults. The program has been demonstrated to improve mobility, reduce disability, and decrease health care costs. It is in 30 cities and rural localities across the world.

Szanton is recipient of the , which helps fund CAPABLE. She is also currently studying whether food and energy assistance improve health outcomes for low-income older adults.
