Jim is the Executive Director of the Special Education Law Division, for almost twenty years he was the Ex. Director of the Special Education Law Division for the Peter D. Collisson Prof. Corp. law firm. He was ask to testified before Congress regarding the re-authorization of IDEA. Jim convinced all of the attorneys and legal team to sue the Governor of California, Department of Public Health and Tony Thurmond Superintendent Ca, Dept of Education. For failing to provide Special Education Services in Students IEPs during Covid19 in violation of Federal and State laws. Which has lead to a Settlement with the Ca. Governor, and a 9th Cir. Lawsuit for 800,000 Students with Special needs. This lawsuit could assist 7 million people effected by disabilities across the Country.  Jim orchestrated the third largest settlement, in California鈥檚 (OAH) Office Of Administrative Hearing鈥檚 history. He is one of the top legal minds regarding Special education. He has special knowledge of Autism, Educational Law, Autism services, and works with many of the top Educational Consultants, Psychologists, and Professors from around the country. He is the former National Development Coordinator for TASH. He has advised Congressional members, Governors, U.S. Senators and White House Cabinet members regarding disabilities. Jim鈥檚 expertise is in recommending a precise strategy, to attorneys, and Parents of students with disabilities in special education and civil rights disputes with school districts and school district officials, and agencies who fail to comply with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (鈥淚DEA鈥), and comparable provisions of state law. He is a Keynote speaker. He is dedicated to assisting individuals with disabilities and their parents in securing a 鈥渇ree appropriate public education,鈥 as promised by the IDEA. He also fights for self-determination so that all individuals can obtain a meaningful education that will prepare them to live independently, as productive members of society. Jim鈥檚 colleagues, and friends like Dr. Wayne Sailor, and Dr. Lou Brown have taught and worked closely with Jim. His colleagues are comprised of Psychologists, lawyers, parents, paralegals and advocates, most of whom are also parents of individuals with learning or severe disabilities.

Jennifer Hamrick, PhD

Dr. Hamrick is an Assistant Professor at The Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research. She is also a certified teacher and Board Certified Behavior Analyst with over 18 years of experience in the field of special education in large, public school districts primarily monitoring educational programming for self-contained special education programs across multiple campuses. Dr. Hamrick received her Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin with an emphasis in Autism and Developmental Disabilities. Having provided supervision and training to teachers, paraprofessionals, and ABA therapists in both the public school and private sector, she has a wealth of experience and knowledge related to best practices when working effectively with students with special needs. Dr. Hamrick's primary focus is staff training as she feels quality training has a substantial impact on treatment integrity and the success of each individual child. Her research has also focused on the social validation of interventions commonly used when working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders. In her role at the Burkhart Center, she is currently the director of the Mobile Outreach Clinic for Autism and coordinator of the Applied Behavior Analysis Verified Course Sequence with the Teacher Training.

Leasha Barry, Ph.D.

Leasha M. Barry, PhD, BCBA-D, LBA, is Director of the Office of Applied Behavior Analysis. 

Barry conducts research, teaches, and participates in service activities that combine her interest in Applied Behavior Analysis, special education, and early intensive behavior intervention. Prior research focused on behavioral interventions for post-traumatic stress disorder, developmental disabilities including autism, learning disabilities such as ADHD, and other at-risk populations spanning areas of impact from neonatal intensive care to juvenile justice.

In response to national healthcare reform and a shortage of qualified clinical providers, Barry's work recently shifted to quality implementation of distance clinical supervision in applied behavior analysis, tele-health in behavioral medicine, and documenting the impact of technology in behavioral intervention.

Barry collaborated with community stakeholders to establish the Autism Center at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. It provides Applied Behavior Analysis services, differential diagnosis, and other services to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder along with support for their families. The Center also provides UWF students of Applied Behavior Analysis a hands-on practicum experience while earning their required supervision hours for certification.

Barry鈥檚 work has appeared in numerous refereed publications, including Journal of Advanced Academics, Journal of Behavior Analysis of Offender and Victim 鈥 Treatment and Prevention, Journal of Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention, Adolescence, and The Behavior Analyst Today.

Riden’s research interests include using the principles of applied behavior analysis to support students with challenging behavior, preparing teachers to effectively manage their classrooms, and single case research design. 

Riden earned a bachelor's degree in history at Shippensburg University, a master's degree in special education at University of Utah and a doctorate in special education at the Pennsylvania State University.
