Traci Morris, PhD

As a member of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma, Traci Morris is an expert in federal Indian policy, telecommunications and digital culture. 

Morris has worked with Native American nations, Tribal businesses, Native American non-profits and has advocated for digital inclusion at the Federal Communications Commission and on Capitol Hill.

Morris is the Executive Director of the American Indian Policy Institute. Under her leadership, the AIPI has grown and diversified its service to Indian Country providing policy analysis, tribally driven research, and economic development capacity building and working with such Indian Country partners as NAFOA, AISES and the Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative.

Morris鈥檚 research and publications on Native American media and the digital divide are focused on Internet use, digital inclusion, network neutrality, digital and new media curriculums and development of broadband networks in Indian Country.

Andrew Heyward

Andrew Heyward is an expert in media, media landscape and digital content.

He serves as a research professor for TV 麻豆传媒 at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

In addition to his work at ASU, Heyward serves as a visiting scholar at the laboratory for social machines at MIT, where he is working on artificial intelligence tools to strengthen local journalism.

Prior to his position at the Cronkite School, Heyward had a long career in broadcast news, mostly at CBS, where he became an adviser to media companies, helping them develop innovative digital content, services and strategy.

Stefka Hristova, PhD

Dr. Hristova鈥檚 research examines algorithmic and digital media cultures. She studies the intersection of technology and culture in relation the context of photography, surveillance, and social movements.

Stefka serves as the Director of the Communication, Culture, & Media Undergraduate Program and teaches in the Rhetoric, Theory, and Culture Graduate Program.

Susannah Emery, PhD

Susie (Susannah) is a Game and narrative Designer and Lecturer of Game Design & Digital Media and heads up the Games Design and production Major in the Bachelor of Creative Industries at UniSA. She holds a PhD from Curtin University for which she received a Chancellor's Commendation, and her research interests focus on the use of video games and digital media for learning and to promote social change. 

Susie is interested in making games that explore the application of social work research to game and interactive design and has worked as a game and narrative designer on several award-winning and nominated games across PC, console, and mobile. Susie is committed to promoting diversity in the games industry, and in 2021, she was appointed an International Women in Games Ambassador, where she helps encourage women and non-binary folks to explore game development and the opportunities within it. In 2022, Susie was announced as the winner of the Women in Games Global Awards: Games or Esports Educator award. 

Susie is a co-host on the fortnightly Adelaide games industry podcast Café Booleans. She regularly co-organizes games industry events in Adelaide such as the Global Game Jam, and was on the organizing committee for the first Australian Women Game Jam.
