Hargens teaches in the undergraduate and graduate programs in exercise science and exercise physiology, respectively, in the department of kinesiology.
Hargens’ research focuses on the physiological links between sleep quality, physical activity and sedentary behavior across the lifespan. Additionally, Hargens examines how short-term sleep quality may impact subsequent aerobic exercise performance.
Hargens earned a bachelor’s degree in health promotion from the University of Iowa, a master’s degree in clinical exercise physiology from Ball State University, and a doctorate in clinical exercise physiology from Virginia Tech.
