Dr. Tim Goldsmith has been a member of the Youth Villages executive staff since 1989. As the chief clinical officer, he provides leadership and supervision in the development and implementation of all clinical models and interventions. Dr. Goldsmith has direct responsibility for the clinical, research and evaluation, placement services and performance improvement and compliance departments. He has been intimately involved in the development and implementation of evidence-based programs at Youth Villages, including trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy, Multisystemic Therapy, Collaborative Problem Solving and other outcome-based strategies.

Dr. Goldsmith holds a bachelor of science degree in sociology from Lambuth College and earned his master鈥檚 degree and Ph.D. in marriage and family therapy from the University of Southern California.

He has served a gubernatorial appointment to the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth, been a member of the national advisory council of the Children in Managed Care Initiative of the Center for Healthcare Strategies (funded by the Annie E. Casey Foundation), and has served as an advisor board member for MST Services.

His professional publications include the Children鈥檚 Mental Health and Research Policy conference, Blueprints Conference, Florida Child Welfare conference and the Alliance for Children and Families conference.

Dolores Cimini, PhD

M. Dolores Cimini is a New York State licensed psychologist who has provided leadership for comprehensive efforts in research-to-practice translation at the University at Albany since 1992 with over $9 million in support from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Justice, and New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports. The screening and brief intervention program developed by Dr. Cimini, the STEPS Comprehensive Alcohol Screening and Brief Intervention Program, has earned 13 national awards for best practices and innovation in behavioral health care. 

Cimini is the director of the Middle Earth Peer Assistance Program at UAlbany, an agency recognized as a model/exemplary program in alcohol and other drug prevention by both the U.S. Department of Education and the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She has published two books and numerous professional articles in both national and international refereed journals in the alcohol and substance use field and has earned two awards for excellence from the White House for her contributions to STEM mentoring. Cimini is a member of the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association and was the Past Chair of the APA Board for the Advancement of Psychology in the Public Interest, where she has had leadership for reviewing and disseminating APA鈥檚 practice standards focused on serving diverse and underrepresented groups and the addressing of issues related to psychology and social justice.

Latoya Smith, PhD

Dr. LaToya Smith is a Visiting Professor at Palo Alto University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. 

Her clinical experience includes the following: Outpatient counselor and Assistant director at university-based counseling clinic, PRN Crisis counselor, Private practice counselor, and IOP/PHP Counselor/Site Supervisor. Her research has primarily been on various topics in diversity. Her areas of clinical interests are diversity issues, trauma, creativity in counseling, wellness and self-care.  Dr. Smith currently lives in Houston, Texas but is a proud native of San Diego, California. She graduated with her Master's and Doctoral degrees from the University of North Texas. 

John Seeley, PhD

John Seeley serves as the principal investigator of a 4-year collaborative multisite study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health to evaluate adaptive treatment strategies for college students with moderate to severe suicidal ideation delivered through university counseling centers. Since 2016, John has served as an appointed member of the Oregon Alliance to Prevent Suicide and he directs the evaluation activities for the implementation of suicide prevention initiatives funded by the Oregon Health Authority. His research interests include emotional and behavioral disorders, school-based mental health intervention, research design and program evaluation, and digital health technology. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Oregon, John was a senior research scientist at the Oregon Research Institute. At the University of Oregon, he is a professor in the special education and clinical sciences department and a core faculty member in the Prevention Science program.  In addition to his teaching and mentoring of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, he serves as the Associate Dean for Research for the College of Education and the Associate Director for the Center on Human Development.

, MD, is the Psychiatrist-in-Chief and Chair of the (DCAPBS) at (CHOP). She specializes in treating children from underserved urban communities and works with the entire family or support system to improve the lives of children and adolescents.

Her extensive expertise includes pediatric mood and anxiety disorders, ethnically diverse children, health services research, psychiatric aspects of chronic medical illness, psychopharmacology, medical and psychiatric conditions, adolescent medicine, neuroimmunology and mood disorders, eating disorders, psychosomatic disorders, and suicide prevention.

Benton is dedicated to eliminating disparities among minority and underserved populations and developing leadership for a diverse child psychiatry workforce with a mission to prepare the next generation of diverse physician leaders. She also creates partnerships between communities and academic centers.

Benton is also the Site Director for CHOP’s and the . Her research focuses primarily on pediatric mood and anxiety disorders, sickle cell disease and psychiatric conditions, HIV and psychiatric conditions, neuroimmunology and mood disorders, health services research, eating disorders, and ethnically diverse children.

She serves as President of the (AACAP) and is a Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the .

She has received numerous honors throughout her career. Recent awards include the Humanitarian Award from the , the Shelley Leaphart-Williams Community Outreach Award from the , the McGavin Award (Agnes Purcell) for Prevention, the Blanche F. Ittleson Award for Research in Child Psychiatry from the , the Council on Concerns of Women Physicians (CCWP) Service Award from the (NMA), the David M. Ellis, M.D., Lifetime Achievement Award and the Philadelphia Business Journal .
