Dr. Philip Huff is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock and Director of Cybersecurity Research in the Emerging Analytics Center. He has a 15-year history of working in the electric industry managing cybersecurity operations and has co-founded the cybersecurity AI startup, Bastazo, Inc.

After a 15-year career in the electric sector managing cybersecurity operations, Dr. Huff came to UA Little Rock to prepare the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. Dr. Huff completed his master’s degree at James Madison University in Computer Science with Infosec specialization and his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Arkansas. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

His career interests are to develop security professionals and to advance innovative solutions to improve the security of our nation’s critical infrastructure.

UA Little Rock Receives $5 Million to Advance Cybersecurity Education and Innovation

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has received $5 million in federal funding aimed at enhancing cybersecurity in the energy sector through education, workforce development, and innovation. The award comes from appropriations language authored by U.S. Sen. John Boozman passed into law in December 2022. The funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response.

UA Little to develop free cybersecurity curriculum for high school students through new partnership with Arkansas Department of Education

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will help create a free cybersecurity curriculum for Arkansas high school students as part of a new partnership announced Dec. 9 at UA Little Rock’s College of Engineering and Information Technology. The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Office of Computer Science will partner with UA Little Rock, the Arch Ford Education Service Cooperative’s Virtual Arkansas division, and the University of Central Arkansas to develop a three-year cybersecurity curriculum and course pathway.
